I will protect your pensions. Nothing about your pension is going to change when I am governor. - Chris Christie, "An Open Letter to the Teachers of NJ" October, 2009

The Many Faces of Chris Christie

Chris Christie on teachers unions:
In Ramsey the governor told 101.5 FM’s David Matthau:  “I’d like to know what the NJEA is spending $130 million on – which is the amount of money they collect every year in dues from their members – I’d like them – if they really think they’re serving the public – to open their books – open their books to scrutiny… if they really care about transparency and openness, and it’s for the children, open your books and let the public see what you spend this money on.”
Chris Christie on political front groups:
"I’m not using anybody. These are a group of citizens who are out there who advocate policies that are in line with mine, and that’s great," Christie said at a press conference in Hamilton Township....
As a 501(c)(4) issue-advocacy organization, Reform Jersey Now is not required to disclose its donors, though its leaders say it will do so once a year....
The group is also telling donors they don’t have to follow pay-to-play laws, which ban those with state contracts worth more than $17,500 from donating more than $300 to statewide campaigns.
Transparency for unions? Absolutely! Transparency for front groups that support the gov? Not so much...
