What's In It For Them?

So I'm looking at S.1872, the voucher bill everyone's fighting about. The money for the vouchers comes from corporations who then get matching tax credits for the amount they give students. Yes, that's essentially the same as direct funding from the tax[payers, except the money is laundered by the corporations.

Which gets me to wondering - why would any corporation do that? What in it for them?

Public relations? Doesn't seem like a very good return on that investment. If anything, they run the risk of a kid going to a bad school on their dime (well, not really their dime, but it is paid in their name). And they run the risk of alienating folks opposed to the program. Why do that when it's not their fight?

Seriously - what's in it for them?
