Too Little, Too Late

Sigh...
WASHINGTON — The $268 million in federal aid that New Jersey received to minimize teacher layoffs didn't arrive in time to save any jobs this year, but it will pay for some classroom hiring for the 2011-2012 school year, officials say.
Many of New Jersey's approximately 600 school districts got a share of the $268 million about three weeks ago, along with advice from the New Jersey Department of Education to hold onto the money until next year.
Next year, after cutting the income tax for the wealthy some more, Christie will claim that he TOLD the districts not to spend that money, so don't blame him for even more school aid cuts.

Cutting teachers is part of the plan, of course, because the true goal is to destroy the union. College-educated public union workers are the last vestige of a time in America when the middle class actually could make a decent life for themselves and share in the productivity gains this country made. We've pretty much wiped that out for the private sector middle class; now we have to do the same for the public sector.

How else are the wealthiest going to protect themselves? They can't continue to guard their hoards of cash if we actually move to a real capitalist system with real competition from the uppity masses. And if we have great public education... well, perish the thought. What's the point of being born on third base if everyone else is born on second?
