Betrayal

What else would you call this?
TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie and all four legislative leaders have announced a hard-fought deal to overhaul pension and health benefits for New Jersey's public employees.
The top lawmakers include Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-Gloucester), Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver (D-Essex), Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean Jr. (R-Union) and Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce (R-Morris).
I am sickened and disgusted by the easy capitulation shown by the Democrats on this. After years of enjoying teacher, police, firefighter, and other public worker support, they are now prepared to stab us all in the back.

Every middle class public employee will take a huge pay cut and huge loss in benefits. And for their trouble, there will be no plan to collect past due state and local pension payments, and no plan to rein in the obscene explosion in health care costs.

In effect: public workers will now have to pay up to continue the enriching of the corporate interests that apparently run this state.

Watch carefully to see who signs off on this. Remember their names well.

And, when the time comes, make them pay for this cowardly betrayal.

  3. (EDIT)I am just speechless about the display of appreciation shown to us for our years of support. Do we have a a working class party (not to be confused with the workers party)? Let's run our own damn candidates.

  4. I'm with Miss. There is no major political party I can get behind right now.

  5. ....and there is the problem. This is bad, imagine what this plan would look like if the Republicans controlled the legislature.

  6. Thinker, I stand behind Dems, but only REAL Dems. As Howard Dean said, "I represent the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party."

Time to take this party back, state by state if we have to. The Norcross machine needs to be kicked to the curb.

  7. With another piece of legislation or two we can kiss our collective bargaining goodbye, our teeth are being pulled one by one.
