I remember seeing this when I was in college, studying music, and thinking it was the best thing I had ever seen or heard. I'm not sure people understand just how great Letterman's band really was. Will Lee was particularly excellent that night.

But it's really Brown, at the peak of his powers, who steals the show. Michael Jackson, Prince, Bruno Mars, George Clinton... go down the list, they owe it all to James Brown. He was, and remains, without peer.

I'll try to get this back to making Sunday Night Music a regular thing. Good for the soul.
