Chris Christie: Liar, Incompetent, or Both?

One more comment on Christie's presser; here's the S-L's Ginger Gibson tweeting (read backwards):

In case you're wondering what this is about: during the 2009 campaign, Christie sent a letter to the cops in October saying he wouldn't touch their pensions. He sent the same letter to the teachers - see the top of this blog for the money quote.

Now, he's saying he didn't know how bad things were; again, he sent the letter in October, 2009.

He didn't know how bad things were. Really?

Yeah, Chris, there was this little thing called the financial crisis; maybe you've heard of it? It started in 2008. Maybe you might have taken a second to think it would cause a few problems for the pension? For tax revenues?

If Chris Christie really didn't know he was going to face these kind of problems in 2009, he is the biggest fool on two feet. Jon Corzine talked about this all of the time; so much so, he actually was the first governor in two decades to put money into the pension funds:

So we're left with a choice; let's do it NJASK-style, shall we?

In, 2009, Governor Christie campaigned on a platform that he wouldn't change public employee pensions; this was AFTER the worst financial and economic crisis in 70 years. In 2011, he radically changed public employee pensions; he says he didn't know the fiscal situation would be this bad. Chris Christie is :

  • A) a liar.
  • B) a fool.
  • C) all of the above.
Your teacher will lose her job if you get this wrong, so don't screw up!
