The governor says he rejected a compromise Schundler negotiated to gain NJEA support for the application because he believed it was in the state’s best interest to rip up the deal on teacher reforms. He saw it as a sell-out to the unions — an unauthorized agreement that, in the end, would have been too costly.
But Schundler insists Christie rejected the deal because he believed any marriage with the NJEA would be “politically lethal.”

Who’s more responsible for the lost money — Christie or Schundler? That remains murky. But if Christie rejected the NJEA’s support just to deliver another eye-poke, then the state lost $400 million for no good reason, and taxpayers and children suffered. Sooner or later, Christie and the NJEA must declare a truce and work together on fixing our schools.
Uh, the NJEA must "declare a truce" as well? Even though they showed they were willing to work with Schundler, but Christie nixed the deal? How is this "truce" supposed to work? Give up even more to Christie, even though Schundler testified he won't EVER work with them?
(Do we have any celery? And where's the horseradish?)
