Your Intrepid Local Media Strikes Again!

The Bergen Record is on the case, going after the big, big money in NJ spending:

More than 60 CEOs of private schools that provide special education for New Jersey public school students at taxpayer expense are paid more than the $175,000 cap that Governor Christie is imposing on public district superintendents....

If the 61 private school CEOs were subject to Christie's planned cap, school districts around the state would stand to save $1.8 million in tuition.

Wow, $1.8 million - in a state that spends around $100 billion a year (local and state combined). 0.002%.

"I don't know how it could be justified to pay someone $215,000 to run a school with 457 kids, even recognizing that these are children in need of special education services," Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak said.

Drewniak apparently has the divine power to decide how much people should make and is far more trustworthy than the free market. Yet another Republican who loves the free market except when it comes to public employees.

Wasting time going after this nonsense will not do anything to bring down the taxes of the middle class in this state, because wages are not that big of a factor in state and local spending.
