It will be a dystopian ruin, exactly what Steve Bannon wants.

Littlefingers Donald Trump's presidency will be a Pyrrhic victory for everyone but him. His business history shows that he always walks away as a winner no matter how much everyone else loses and almost everyone always loses when they have done business with Littlefingers.

Is a malignant narcissist the same as a malignant cancer, and does that mean the United States only has a few months or years to live?Lloyd Lofthousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08828275232705892137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9025948832913694345.post-3271781488192611052017-01-29T08:46:20.798-08:002017-01-29T08:46:20.798-08:00"Funding matters. To be specific we argue with the notion that good schools can't overcome some of these challenges for many kids and that a certain level of growth should be expected for every kid -- no matter where he/she starts. Of course funding matters but Newark and Camden get $25,000 per year. Of course poverty matters but good schools -- charter and district -- prove it's not unsurmountable. Of course segregation is undesirable but there is no law that says that a school full of Black kids cannot be excellent -- George Hall Elementary in Mobile and Ariel Academy in Chicago -- neighborhood schools.

And there is a mountain of evidence that white people self-segregate so why complain about it if there is so little we can do about it. Other than magnet schools, we don't have policy solutions -- busing or consolidating diverse districts -- that white middle-class people have accepted. They just move away. Neighborhood school boundaries and segregated housing patterns are the big driver of segregation. Until people voluntarily choose to integrate we will have segregation. Segregation is not a justifiable excuse for low achievement. If you can't succeed with a school full of poor kids of color at least let others try instead of blocking organizations like TFA that exist specifically to meet that challenge.

The big difference between progressive reformers and the DeVos/Trump brand of choice is that we believe in accountability and if traditional public school advocates like you and others would honestly embrace, develop, improve and faithfully implement robust systems of accountability one of the surest outcomes would be to limit vouchers and low-quality charters -- not to mention strengthening the case for funding. I'm on your side.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01044323074150345996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9025948832913694345.post-84783021817320712672017-01-26T17:09:15.245-08:002017-01-26T17:09:15.245-08:00Two points:

At least when she spent all that money, it was her own, and she was able to buy some members of Congress with it. Arne spent all of our dollars on SIG, an utter failure.

I know Relay fake graduate school gets lots of attention, but I don't want our own Massachusetts fake Sposato "Graduate" "School" of "Education" to fly under the radar. (See http://www.sposatogse.org) Trainees must get hired at a "partner"charter school in Boston, then spend two years with Sposato. They compare themselves with TFA, claiming to be more selective. They also charge a $7000 bounty to schools seeking to hire their "graduates", who get an "MET", a Masters in Effective Teaching.

Christine LanghofflaMissyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00516322307725011313noreply@blogger.com
